Heat causes rail cancellations and delays

High temperatures today (June 27) have prompted speed restrictions to be put in place on National Express East Anglia services.
Trains from Liverpool street to Colchester Town, Ipswich and Braintree are among those affected. Passengers are being advised to visit National Express’ website.
The design of overhead line equipment, which is due to undergo a “major renewal”, means it can overheat.
Speed restrictions are likely to stay in place for the rest of the afternoon, with temperatures expected to hit 31⁰c.
National Express, however, said it intends to operate a full pm peak service.
