Airport power outage reported for most of Concourse C

Some US Airways flights have been delayed or cancelled at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport following a power outage to most of Concourse C tonight.

A blown transformer caused the problem, which Duke Energy is addressing, according to news reports.

An employee at Phillip’s Famous Seafood, a restaurant in Concourse C, said that the power went out around 3:30 p.m. The power was still out at 10 p.m., she said

“We saw the lights in the concourse go out and it started getting extremely hot in the restaurant,” she said. “Some of the flights were cancelled.”

Power wasn’t expected to be restored to the concourse until 6 a.m. Wednesday, a Duke Energy spokesperson told a TV news station.

Anyone flying out of Charlotte or meeting arriving flights should call their airline to confirm status of the flights.
