Smog Causes Traffic Block in Milan

ETN is reporting that due to smog levels, Guiliano Pisapia, Milan’s Lord Mayor, has announced a traffic stop in the city on Friday and Saturday, December 9 and 10.

Motorcycles will also be blocked, although electric vehicles will be permitted.

It is the first time that a smog alarm in Milan is bringing the city to a standstill during the weekdays. These measurements are normally applied on Sundays, when people ride horses into town, or use roller skates.

An improvement in the weather condition is said to be coming on Tuesday, but the article claims that “drastic measurements need to be taken” and shopkeepers are reportedly protesting as the entire circulation in Milan will come to an standstill. (

Boeing delivers 14 widebodies as first customers receive 787 and 747-8

While it is no earthshaking news that Airbus delivered more aircraft in October than its American competitor Boeing – that is after all the case almost every month – it is notable that Boeing delivered far more widebody aircraft than its European rival in October. In fact, the last time the aircraft manufacturer delivered so many widebodies in a single month was as long ago as December 2009. The reason for this sudden increase is of course the introduction of two of Boeing’s new widebody models; the 787 and the 747-8.
